I've been using Mooncut for my video editing for just over two months now, and they have changed everything for me. No longer do I have to edit anything. I know that sounds like the dream, but it's the way that it's all come together for me.

I drop them the footage I take, and then they put it together into a project that is honestly better than what I could do. There are different levels, so if you just want a basic edit, like I do for most of my YouTube videos, you can get that done. Or if you want all the finishing touches, like motion graphics and B-roll and everything, for maybe a commercial client, they will do that for you as well.

My only regret with Mooncut is that I didn't start a heck of a lot earlier, because this has really increased my ability to make videos on the internet on an ongoing basis, which is traditionally very difficult, but now it's really easy with a full team of support.

Hey, look, I'm gonna tell you a little secret: how I'm able to manage my professional work and making YouTube content at the same time. Oh, I don't edit anything. In fact, I've actually outsourced this to our friends at Mooncut.

Now, with having a professional editor, I can focus more on shooting and planning and making sure that the films I'm actually working on get funded, and then the things that happen on the other side that might be a little bit boring are going to be taken care of for me. I have an editor that's handling anything from some of the corporate work I have to do, making sure my YouTube schedule is on point, and at the same time helping me buy my time back.

If you're someone who's struggling with a gigantic backlog in terms of videos that you have to edit, Mooncut might be the best way to go about things.

My name is Shyah Yan Zarrabi and I'm a Vancouver-based wedding videographer. I also work in commercial, but more recently my motivation is helping other videographers.

When I started using Mooncut, it was this lift and this relief that I didn't have to do absolutely everything on my own, and I started taking ideas and actually putting them out into the world. So it was very fulfilling and relieving to work with Mooncut.

I have an idea, I can gather some assets, I send it on their cloud portal. It's quite easy. I really enjoy how easy it is for me to navigate, and when I get drafts back, it's really easy for me to see where the links are, to label it as needing revisions. Really, really simple to work with Mooncut.

One thing I want to recommend to other videographers is to let go of some control and to outsource, because if you don't like editing, you can find a good team that will take your little coal or your diamond and turn it into platinum. I recommend to start letting go and be more the business owner and not just a videographer.

I do really great, I do really great edits. But when I do the edits myself, my three-year-old, my five-year-old and my wife don't see me. And that can't be.

Three and a half years ago, our second child was born, and I realized I cannot be at this computer editing until midnight. It cannot happen. That is not what I signed up for. And so at that point, I outsourced the editing.

When I receive a video back from Mooncut, it feels 90% of the way there and ready to be delivered to the client. Consistently, Mooncut tends to deliver the first draft client-ready, or very, very close to it.

And that's what I need, right? Because it's getting my time back, which is the biggest problem I have in my business right now, is getting my time back. So it's awesome.

Before working with Mooncut, I would say the biggest challenge with commercial videos was just finding a reliable editor. It felt like I was hopping around testing out different editors all the time, and it seemed like no one could get it right. No one understood the voice of my brand or what our standards were.

I'm not just getting an editor, right, but also getting a team that's behind, you know, this whole post-production process. The impact that I had on my business is that it frees me up to, you know, do other things, like get more clients or, you know, film more, which is the side of the business that I want to focus more on.

I would recommend Mooncut to anyone who's struggling to scale their commercial video production business. You can't do it by yourself, especially if you're trying to grow. I think at some point you're going to hit a roadblock and you're going to need help. And I would say Mooncut would be the perfect partner for that.

My biggest challenges before I started working with Mooncut was communication. Communication was so difficult when you send out content and you describe what you want, and then you get something back and maybe need changes, or you have something where you're like, "Oh, I forgot to add this drone clip," or whatever it may be. But speedy communication, it was always an issue. I would send stuff and then I would communicate, "Oh, hey, can we add this clip, or can we change this music?" And the time span to get a finished deliverable was stretched out so long because the communication was poor.

What changed was it helped me tremendously with my workload of editing. Mooncut has been incredible. It's all organized, and now as we do more projects together, we become more familiar with each other: editing style, organization of files and so on. It's so speedy. It saves me so much time.

Regardless of communication and organization and files, the work is great. The edits are great. And even with some of the minor changes, I'm like, "Oh, hey, can we change this, change that?" And I get a response within 24 hours. So it's very quick, very responsive. And over time, it's only gotten easier.

The work speaks for itself, and I sort of pride myself on that. When I go to film for a client, I'm like, "Hey, look, this is what can be delivered." And then I give you guys footage, and you take it and make it look really beautiful. I think your work speaks for itself. Your communication is outstanding, and I think that's like the huge components.

And now with the new brand book, for all the different brands that I work with, I can have all of their logo, their font they use, all of their graphics and colors, all in that brand book. And so then I can just plug and play footage, like, "Hey, new product, new product." And so it's really great.
